What is Rolin

Rolin is desktop AI film production software for macOS: what it covers, who makes it, platforms, collaboration, AI use, costs and availability.

Updated

This guide includes newer client features, some of which may be awaiting release. Availability depends on the app version you have installed.

Rolin is a desktop AI film production system for macOS, made by Wooof LLC. It takes a production from the first idea through screenplay, shot design, assets, storyboards, a 3D virtual studio and AI video generation to a rough cut, in one app where a team shares the same project and the creator decides at every step.

How AI is used

AI drafts and generates; people choose. AI shot planning proposes a breakdown for you to review. Image and video generation produce candidates that you compare, and each shot has one adopted Take at a time. Viewing or generating a result does not change what is adopted.

Generation uses third-party image, video and voice models. Available models and controls depend on the mode and model you select.

Costs

Membership (plan, seats and cloud storage) and AI production usage are charged separately. AI usage is recorded at actual amounts and depends on the model, duration, quality, quantity and references. Usage records can be filtered by project and exported as CSV or Excel. Current prices are shown in the account pages, not in this guide.

What Rolin is not

  • Not a browser app: production work happens in the Mac app; the website hosts the account center and these docs.
  • Not a finishing editor: it completes rough cuts and hands off to Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro for fine cutting.
  • Not an AI model: it connects to third-party models and keeps every result as a version you can compare.
  • Not one-click: AI suggestions and generations are candidates that you review and adopt.
