Shot lists and storyboards

Organize scenes and shots, review AI suggestions, prepare storyboard images and export.

This guide includes newer client features, some of which may be awaiting release. Availability depends on the app version you have installed.

Turn the story into shots you can generate, film and edit. Use the shot list for structure and parameters, and the storyboard for a visual sequence.

How the two pages relate

Shot list and Storyboard use the same scenes and shot data. The list emphasizes text and parameters; the board emphasizes images. Structural edits in either affect the shared material.

Add scenes and shots manually

  1. Open the shot list, add a scene, name it and link a location asset if needed.
  2. Add a shot and enter its picture, action, dialogue and other available fields.
  3. Review framing, camera position, movement, duration and director notes.
  4. Link the character looks, props and location used in the shot.

A scene organizes narrative or production content. A location asset is a reusable place. Several scenes can use the same location.

Use AI shot planning

  1. Confirm and lock the current episode’s screenplay.
  2. Open the shot-list page and choose AI shot planning from the assistant at the lower right. The storyboard grid does not offer this same AI action.
  3. Select the creative freedom level, review the prompt and start. Freeform first goes through AI scene segmentation.
  4. Review the suggested shots, retain or adjust them, then apply your decisions.

Suggestions become official shot-list content only after review and application. If a review is already active, reopen it from the assistant. After screenplay changes, check whether the suggestions still apply.

Prepare storyboard images

Switch to Storyboard and open the image source for the intended shot. Choose a local image, a project asset, the 2D canvas, video clipper or 3D studio.

Check whether the source action writes a storyboard image, a keyframe or a technical reference. The same image can serve different purposes, but those destinations are not interchangeable.

Export and discuss

Export PDF or PPTX for the team to review in scene and shot order. Check the sequence, text and images first. A shot with only text has different export content from one with an image.

Use comments to discuss specific shots. Before changing structure or deleting shots, read the impact confirmation and make sure you are not removing material still needed for production.
