Connect an external AI assistant through MCP so it can inspect or work on the project within the scope you approve.
Prepare the connection
Open Rolin and the intended project and episode. Enable Agent control in Settings, then use the client configuration provided there to connect a compatible MCP assistant.
Connecting does not grant permission to operate the project. The assistant must request authorization for its task.
Approve a request
In the newer client, requests appear in the Agent control panel on the workbench’s bottom bar. Review the task purpose, project, episode, requested permissions and whether paid generation is requested.
Choose reading, task editing, or editing with adoption, or reject the request. Reading is sufficient for analysis; grant editing only when changes are part of the task.
Understand permissions
| Grant | Suitable tasks |
|---|---|
| Reading | Inspect material, summarize it and suggest improvements |
| Task editing | Change supported project content within the approved scope |
| Editing and adoption | Also perform supported adoption or final-selection operations |
Your project role, module state and implemented tools still constrain available actions. Authorization does not bypass locked screenplays or read-only projects.
Paid generation
Review and approve a paid-operation budget separately in the control panel. Editing access is not an unlimited generation allowance. Budget, expiry and balance still apply.
Assistant-triggered shot generation follows the same character-voice rules. Linked characters with voices participate in reference-audio preparation and model filtering. Confirm bindings and generation mode first; permission to generate does not make every mode or model support voices.
Give a clear objective and scope, such as “Read this episode’s shot list and identify shots missing action descriptions.” For paid work, specify the intended outputs and allowed budget.
Pause, resume and end
Review active grants in the control panel. Pause temporarily stops authorized activity, Resume continues it, and End revokes the task authorization. Jobs already accepted by the server can have separate states, so also inspect the task center.
After switching project, episode or account, have the assistant recheck its context. Do not assume an old authorization applies across those boundaries.
